“We think it’s a big deal,” he said Tuesday at the Merrill Lynch Media Fall Preview conference.

Warner Bros. said last month that “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” would move from Nov. 21 to July 17, 2009, a shift that left the second “Madagascar” movie, due Nov. 7, with a whole lot less competition with which to contend.  The movie is expected to have a longer run in theaters as well as less competition for family wallets.

“Internationally, I think this will be a great plus for ‘Madagascar 2,’” notes Par Intl. topper Andrew Cripps. “It makes us the standout family movie for year end in most international markets and will allow the film to play through the Christmas holidays with strength. We are looking at our dates at present and anticipate making a few adjustments to take advantage of the situation.”

Dreamworks  doesn’t intend to enter the straight-to-DVD market anytime soon – at $1 million a minute, it’s too expensive to create such content.

He also noted that the studio has boosted profit margins from 3% to 16% lately through reining in production costs and focusing on Disney-branded movies.

Bergman also predicted that, while production costs will remain stable over the next few years, marketing costs could rise “a little bit.”

“There is a lot of clutter out there and a certain amount of money you need to spend,” he said.

The theater opened in 1949 with a screen transplanted from Camden, N.J. and two large speakers on either side of the screen. They were replaced in 1950 by in-car speakers. The current screen has been in place since 1972. Until 1968, movie-goers had to use outhouses before the current restrooms were constructed. The theater was closed from 1986 to 1995 but reopened in 1995.

The land currently valued at 1.2 million has motivated the owners to sell.

In the Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa movie the penguins crash-land in the vast plains of Africa where the characters they meet species of their own kind for the first time.  We’re pretty sure no one gets eaten -

The studio has already announced plans for “Madagascar 3.”

November 7th , Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa will be released in North American  theaters.
The original voice cast will be returning to breath life into the animated characters, this move will feature some unexpected junior stars.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Ben Stiller’s children will have voice part.

Pinkett Smith’s daughter Willow and Stiller’s kids Quinlin and Ella all won parts in the animated movie, and their parents couldn’t have been prouder.

“It was so cute because she’d been asking, ‘How does that work? How does the animation thing work? Mommy, what happens?’” Jada is  quoted her, as saying.

“So, it was great when I got the phone call saying, ‘Would Willow like to play little Gloria?’ My character as a child?’ She got to come in and do some lines,” . Willow follow in the steps of her older brother , Jaden – who worked with Will Smith on Pursuit of Happyness.

Stiller wasn’t completely comfortable when he got his kids into the studio to record spots.

He said: “They don’t like to be told to do anything, but when my son got in front of the microphone, he was good.

“He just had fun and he was, like, making sounds, and we were saying, like, ‘Oh, be happy, be sad.’ Then he started to get a little bit intimidated by the microphone and the whole thing.

“That’s when you start to feel like you’re this horrible stage parent telling them, ‘Laugh! Cry!’. But I’m happy that they’re both in the movie… I was happy that they weren’t getting up there and going all (child star) Shirley Temple or something.”
